Senior Minister - Rev. James Grady E. Shelton
Senior Minister Rev. James Grady E. Shelton came to New
Hope in August of 2008. Born in Austell, GA, Rev.Shelton
is married to Ellie, a talented music teacher,and they have
a son, Grady, who is 4 years old, and a newborn daughter,
Belle. Rev. Shelton is a graduate of Atlanta Christian
College, with a Bachelor of Science Degree in music ministry
and a minor in Biblical Studies. He also has a Master of Arts
Degree in New Testament, with emphasis in preaching, from
Johnson Bible College. He will complete his study towards his Master of Divinity Degree from
McAfee School of Theology this spring. He was ordained in 2002 and has been engaged in
ministry since. Before coming to New Hope, Rev. Shelton served as Minister of Worship at
Maple View Church of Christ in Bluefield, VA. We are so pleased to have this man of God

Director of Children & Youth - Rev. Tammy Humphries
Tammy joined the staff of New Hope in July 2006. She has a
Bachelors of Science degree from Southeastern University in
Church Leadership. She recently married Chuck Humphries and
between them they have 5 children between the ages of 14 and 20
- Hope, Mark, Cole, Zachary, and Kaleb. So they are very familiar
with young people and the trials and triumphs of parenting. Tammy
draws immensely on her faith in and relationship with God, her
education, and her life experience to inspire, encourage, and teach
children, youth, and parents in her ministry at New Hope. On Sunday,
November 2, 2008, Tammy was officially licensed as a minister of the Disciples of Christ.

Director of Music and Accompanist - Patsy Gaffney
On June 17, 2009, Patsy Gaffney joined our congregation as our Music
Director and Accompanist. Patsy is a resident of Lilburn and comes from
White Oak Baptist Church where she served as pianist. She is a gifted
pianist and writer of music. She loves directing the choir and loves creating
services which honor God. She has added so much to our worship
experience and we are blessed to have her!
Secretary - Laura Vosburgh
The newest member of our staff is our secretary, Laura. She joined
us in January 2010. This wonderful woman is the voice you will often
hear when you call our church office. She will be happy to direct
your questions, concerns, and information requests to the proper
person. Laura and her husband, Howard, have four daughters,
Carrie, Katie, Rachel and Megan and one granddaughter, Molly.
Laura and her family live in Monroe and are active members of
Bethlehem First United Methodist Church.
Nursery Attendant - Chris Hussey
Leading the care of our precious babies and toddlers is Chris Hussey. Chris works part-time in
our nursery on the weekends, but also is employed during the week as a preschool teacher.
Chris, a mom of two teenagers, loves to care for our littlest ones and does a really great job.
Organist - Barry Coker
Barry has served as a volunteer organist for over 20 years. He has been faithful in his service
to our church. He also sings in our choir. Barry and his wife Barbara have 2 daughters, Beth
and Melissa.
